Kumquats have been called "the little gems of the citrus family". The common name, which has been spelled cumquat, or comquot, means "gold orange" in China. The Japanese equivalent is kin kan or kin kit for the round type, too kin kan, for the oval type.
I've seen and tasted two types of kumquat: sweet (usually oval) and sour (usually round). Well, the one pictured is super super sour, and I love it!

Lovely reflections! Not so sure about the fruit - I've tasted the sour one, and I really don't think I like it...

@Adiemus: Yeah, if you're not so into sour taste then this could be an enemy to your tongue :) Thanks again for stopping by, Bronnie!
Nice idea and nice reflection but i feel the pic is a little bit hazy and hotspot(flash reflection) is not good too..

@Srinivas Koduri: PS can certainly do its magic in removing the hotspot ... and I shall give it a try. Appreciate your comments!
even though i'm from asia, i've yet to taste a kamquat. *sad* they're different from mandarin oranges yea?

@spots: Thanks for stopping by, spots! You should give it a try some time :) Kumquats are much smaller than mandarin oranges and taste quite differently, though they're both in the same citrus family.
excellent shot - i love the simplicity and the reflection. Per Srinivas... I guess you could have tried to clone out the reflection but I like the kind of hazy texture whether intentional or not I think it adds something to the image.

@Viracocha: Thanks, Viracocha! Same to you, very nice macro shot of the lily today. Beautiful soft colors!
It's brite , the colors are deep , the texture of the reflective surface adds much character . But most of all this image makes my mouth water !

@Fred: Just the thought of these "sour" citrus babies is good enough to make my mouth watery :) Appreciate your comments!
Lovely fruit. Your image is simply excellent!

@Evelyn: Thanks, Evelyn!
I love oranges, but is that your kitchen countertop? Nice color.

@chiquitafilipina: Yes, indeed that is my kitchen countertop :) Good to see you again, chiquitafilipina! How's the little one inside of you doing?
Beautiful fruit and magical reflection! I've never seen the round kind (or if I have, I didn't know it was a kind of kumquat). Shall have to go exploring Chinatown this weekend. :-P

@Damon Schreiber: Thanks, Damon! I don't think you would have any problem finding Kumquat around this time of year, since it's getting closer to the Chinese New Year. Traditionally, people display this type of tree in their home as a sign of luck and prosperity. Well, let your unsuccessful voyeur do his job and see what he can find :)
Beautiful framing, and I LOVE REFLECTIONS
