I acquired this at a plant sale in the building where I work. Once every now and then, they put up this kind of sale to get rid of any old plants used in floral arrangements inside the building. Does anybody know what kind of flower is this?

Great Macro shot...wow at 1 second too was it hand held if it was it's a pretty good effort. The composition of the floor and the lines lead strait to the purple. Good job.

@Colour blind: Thanks, Kelly! Yes, it was hand held. This picture was taken with my Canon Powershot, so it was basically a point-n-shoot thing. I'm happy with the way it turned out though.
I don't know this flower.. you've made a fine capture and a fine acquisition!

well better late than never, and slightly incomplete, BUT I believe it's a bromeliad of some kind. But my avocation is in the theatre--NOT floraculture.
