Owl ButterflyPosted by Lyndsey Le (Houston, TX, United States) on 28 January 2007 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. "Members of the butterfly genus Caligo are known as the owl butterflies. They are native to Central and South America. Their name is derived from the presence eysepots on their wings, which are used to scare away predators." [Wikipedia] Just another of my butterfly series. I will probably post a couple more in which I think are worth to share and will reveal the location where these beaus and beautifuls were captured. Enjoy!
